Physical Therapy Aide:

Charleston Sports Medicine Physical Therapy, located on Daniel Island, is currently seeking applicants for a full time Physical Therapy Aide position, in a busy physician owned/operated out-patient physical therapy department.

Job Type: Full time position Monday through Friday to support our Physical Therapy Team during standard operating hours between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The physical therapy aide will support physical therapy care delivery by preparing treatment areas, equipment, and material; providing customer service support for patients currently receiving care; assisting  in providing and performing non-skilled treatment procedures under the direct supervision of the Licensed Physical Therapist and/or Physical Therapist Assistant(s).

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Pay Rate: starting at $10+ (negotiable dependent on skill level and experience)

Experience: Not required but preferred. On the job training provided.

Job Description/ Duties: The physical therapy treatment aide will assist in:

  • Preparing treatment rooms/areas for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols
  • Providing customer service support and assisting with client scheduling needs, welcoming new patient arrivals, providing and/or assisting patient into physical therapy modalities
  • Applying heat packs; setting up on equipment technologies utilized in clinic; assisting patients onto and off exercise equipment; gross monitoring of patient comfort; and assisting licensed staff in issuance of patient HEPs
  • Educating patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment
  • Maintaining patient confidence and protecting business operations by keeping patient information confidential as per HIPPA regulating guidelines
  • Maintaining equipment sterility and organizing supplies
  • Working to in coordination with clinical staff to assure operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventative maintenance; following manufactures instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling /reporting needs for repair
  • Participating in educational opportunities to include staff in-services, transdisciplinary team meetings, and independent study
  • Enhancing physical therapy department and business organization by accepting accountability for personal conduct and outcomes

Skills:

  • BLS certified
  • Demonstrates ability to multi task and use of equipment and software required to accomplish the responsibilities of this position
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word Program preferred
  • Efficiency and comfort in the use of WebPT
  • Manage confidential patient and business operative information per HIPAA regulations
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
